Ephesians 6:1-4

“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.  “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise:  “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.” And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.

Fathers day encompasses the men who are Fathers, Brothers, Uncles, Cousins - men who stand strong on faith, GOD’s guidance and lead their families in a righteous way. There are men who are protectors, providers, mentors, councilors who tackle the challenges of being the head of the family in tormentous climate.

Fathers day gets the short end of the stick every year because our modern day society short changes the priceless value of fathers in our lives. As Fathers day approached, I could help but to over hear the constant downplay of what good fathers DO for the constant upstaging of what a few bad fathers DONT. At every moments when I heard someone say “let’s face it, some men aren’t blah blah blah” my response was, not ALL fathers are irresponsible, and you cannot commit the shortcoming of a few to an entire group. For every irresponsible male, there is an equally stronger sound man assuming the necessary role.

Fathers seek the wisdom of God so when your children honor and follow you, they follow a man of virtue and righteousness. Children, heed the words of your father.  Fathers, as you celebrate an amazing day, may God continue to bless you, strengthen you, use you, and may you shine the eternal light our God our Heavenly Father.

I salute & celebrate the amazing men in my life and say thank you Lord for the ability to send have my dad, brother, uncle, cousins, friends who think they my daddy’s, nephews who think their my uncles and a host of others. Happy Fathers Day!
